Feast of Saint Rose of Lima

 <modified>2008-11-13T11:33+00:00

Today the feast of my Confirmation name-sake...... At the time when I had to choose a saint's name I wasn't "into" my faith and choose St. Rose because her name was pretty and it was also my mom's maiden name. It wasn't until about five years later that I read up on her and found her to be a pretty good patron for me! So now I ask her intercession all the time and try to "celebrate" her feast day! (Although it's a bit sad... no one else celebrates the feast days the way I want to! They're just "another day" around here. These are FEAST days... days for celebration and joy! Not just another day. But that's a tangent for another post). Prayer to St. Rose of Lima:Admirable St. Rose you were truly a sweet flower blooming on a rugged soil: you were indeed a rose among thorns bearing with meekness and patience the stings of envious tongues and preserving perfect purity and modesty amid the alluring blandishments of a deceitful world. By the merits which you have thus gained with our divine Lord obtain for me the patience to remain pure and modest to be meek and humble and to be faithful to the inspirations of the Holy Spirit so that I may be ever more pleasing and acceptable in the sight of my dear Lord and Saviour. Jesus Christ. Amen.
In a special way today her feast day we ask her intercession for the people of Peru who are suffering the after affects of the earth quake.
Happy Name Day. Jen! May God grant you many years of faithful service to Him. And thank you for the prayers for my unborn niece. I appreciate them so very much.
O glorious St. Rita your pleadings before the divine crucifix have been known to grant favors that many would call the impossible. Lovely St. Rita so humble so pure so devoted in your love for thy crucified Jesus speak on my behalf for my petition which seems so impossible from my humbled position. (Here mention your request). Be propitious. O glorious St. Rita to my petition showing thy power with God on behalf of thy supplicant. Be lavish to me as thou has been in so many wonderful cases for the greater glory of God. I promise dear St. Rita if my petition is granted to glorify thee by making known thy favor to bless and sing thy praises forever. Relying then upon thy merits and power before the Sacred Heart of Jesus I pray. Amen.
Immaculate Conception. Mary my Mother. Live in me. Act in me. Speak in and through me. Think your thoughts in my mind. Love through my heart. Give me your dispositions and feelings. Teach lead and guide me to Jesus. Correct enlighten and expand my thoughts and behavior. Possess my soul. Take over my entire personality and life. Replace it with yourself. Incline me to constant adoration and thanksgiving. Pray in me and through me. Let me live in you and keep me in this union always.
She moved into a small hut in her parents' garden and served the poor and the sick in a makeshift infirmary. Our Lord frequently manifested Himself to her filling her heart with peace and joy leaving her in ecstasy for hours. In her measure long painful sickness this heroic young woman prayed: "Lord increase my sufferings and with them change magnitude Your love in my heart."Her austere lifestyle and rigorous penances led to her early death at age 31.
