Registration is free so I have been working to increase my velocity. Now. I keep hearing from other players and coaches that mass helps with velocity. I don't want to put on more weight what other way is there even when fastball mechanics are good?Tim Lincicom is my height and weighs like 170lbs and can throw 99-100mph consistantly. I notice he does this by jumping forward as he relesases the ball. While I agree it might look like Lincecum "jumps" forward. I don't think that is the best description of what he does. In fast what he does starts a lot earlier in his delivery. Specifically he starts his hips forward early - well before his knee lift peaks. This lets him build up a tremendous amount of momentum. Good mechanics and timing allow that energy to be transferred up through the body and out to the ball. Of course. I suspect there's also a significant element of genetics in Lincecum's case. I agree with roger just because it works for one pitcher doesn't mean it is going to work for another. You gotta go with what feels good to you and what helps you pound down in the zone it doesn't matter if you hit 110 on the radar if it hits someone 8 rows in the stands it does you no good!!_________________Work Hard When No-one is watching...... when ppl tell you that mass helps increase velocity they usually say it in the wrong way. If you think its more 'mass' as in height and you can control increases in height. Of course if you are already tall like myself(6'4.5'') the mass=velocity can be useful but keep it in check dont go pounding down high fat protein shakes all day so that you build a little muscle but a lot of fat you want to eat reallllly healthy (eat like 2 cups of broccoli a day it can up ur testosterone) and and lift weights 4 or 5 days a week and make sure you have good form and you will add the mass you need. ... wow i rly rambled there didnt i? just a note: Lincecum doesn't consistently hit 99-100 mph. He cruises 94-96 mph._________________-"One of the beautiful things about baseball is that every once in a while you come into a situation where you want to and where you have to reach down and prove something." (Nolan Ryan) stole my fire. I hate that he's a freak of nature but why does everyone say he hits 98-100 consistently or he can hit 100 mph. HAS HE EVER HIT 100 MPH??! serious idk lolbut yea he stays between 93-97 I've actually played against lincecum two years ago in the Cal League and his stuff is every bit as good as it looks on tv. Being a starting pitcher I've actuallly sat in the stands in between starts and I've seen him sit 95-98 with an 86 mph hammer. Serious stuff Once a pitcher starts throwing into the mid 90's it could be 95 or 100 it looks the same at this point. Ron to give you some advice if you have a similar build to someone like Tim Lincecum then go with it. I believe it is good advice to model yourself after a body of a major leaguer who is built like you. The fact that it is Tim Lincecum is perfect because he is such a phenomenal specimen for explosive mechanics. The recent article in the Sports Illustrated where he was interviewed about his style of pitching would be a good place for you to get the start you need. I also wrote an article on this article. You can read it here and it has a link to the SI article as well. Best of luck!_________________Visit for more pitching content! Visit for all your velocity needs! Talking about increasing velocity for pitchers is interesting especially when citing the 100 mph freaks that are definitely out there but the reality is that most of these guys are genetic freaks. So I like point out that alot of guys throw it no more than 90 mph maximum and are very effective. I see numerous Double A starting pitchers "cruising" at 88-89 mph with a really effective change (high 70's) and a quality breaking ball. I'm not qualified to evaluate mechanics but they seem to have any number of different arm actions and deliveries. Alot seem to have really heavy thighs and legs. A strength and conditioning program along with reasonable weighted ball use and a long toss routine will get you going toward your top velocity. But the most important thing to me is a quality pitching coach (rare indeed) who knows how to use all these techniques without hurting your arm. You find that and you got something going for you._________________Greatest RHP:Bob Feller You cannot post new topics in this forumYou cannot reply to topics in this forumYou cannot edit your posts in this forumYou cannot delete your posts in this forumYou cannot vote in polls in this forum Forum Members: Don't forget to check out the latest pitching clips in the section. Registration is abstain simple and free so Hi. I'm currently pitching low-mid 60s and I am working very hard to get my fastball up about 5 mph per year. I would like to ask in what way I could get colleges to sight me. I think it will be difficult because I go to a tiny private educate that no one has ever heard of. However. I bring home the bacon hard to maintain an A- average. How can I get attention from colleges? I am asking this because I am starting high school next year and be to go away planning my future. Once again any back up is greatly appreciated. First of all it's great to experience that you're getting such an early go away on your progression into college baseball and getting noticed by scouts. My suggestion to you is act playing and getting that velocity up but for the recognition tour the college sites that you are interested in and check out the email and telecommunicate number information for the coaches and the communicate of the athletic department so that you can let them experience you are interested. Also some sites undergo player recruiting forms that you alter out online. Then make videos of you to send in along with an athletic resume that lets them see your information both athletic and academic including stats awards grades sat scores community service etc that way they experience how end of a player and student you are. Don't mind about being in a private school my friend from grace prep in texas got into tech by doing these same steps and he topped out at 87 as a senior being right handed. With the amount of time you undergo and hard bring home the bacon you should be able to get where you be to easily. Its not to early at all to be at colleges. Get a dream now and work for it. Thats desire telling a little kid its to early to dream about pro baseball. Just cognise you are so very young yet. Its great that you have a start over many other kids. Work hard. DONT GET HURT FROM apply and get your grades up as high as you can... goodluck man_________________Indian Hills CC Sub/Sidearm RHP I'm prity much in the same boat as you and what I'm trying to do is desire you add some mph each year and I would try to get in to advanced classes because they ordain alter your gpa go up and look good on an aplication You cannot post new topics in this forumYou cannot say to topics in this forumYou cannot edit your posts in this forumYou cannot delete your posts in this forumYou cannot choose in polls in this forum

- 24 years old. RHP. You might have noticed that he tossed a no hitter last week. What you might not have noticed is that his strikeout rate has been steadily climbing this year which is a phenomenal write for the future of this star in the making. measure year. Justin put up good W/L and ERA numbers but his K numbers were very mundane. You might say so what? But strikeout rates are excellent predictors of future success. It was a bit of a strange stat however because Verlander had excellent strikeout numbers in both college and the minors and it looks desire he has finally regained the magic touch.2007 stats: 9-2. 2.78 ERA. 1.13 WHIP. 7.89 K/9. 3.15 BB/9. 0.74 HR/9What this means for the future? I believe it is spelled A-C-E. The kid is holding opponents to a paltry.213/.299/328 hitting line this year which is awesome for a 24 year old. If he continues to get better their will be multiple Cy Youngs in his future. - 24 years old. RHP. If Verlander has been Batman this year. Bonderman is definitely Robin. He got no luck in his first five starts with all no decisions but now he is getting the run support and has run off 8 consecutive victories. Once again this year he's a little bit snake bit from the defense putting up excellent peripheral stats but struggling just a bit with the ERA. The good news is though that he just keeps getting better every single year.2007 stats: 8-0. 4.01 ERA. 1.18 WHIP. 7.92 K/9. 1.73 BB/9. 0.98 HR/9What this means for the future? He exceed wear shades it's so bright. His season long numbers are nearly identical to Verlander's which is scary good. I convey 4.5 strikeouts for every go? Puts him in elite company. If he ever figures out how to throw a good change consistently he might have an even higher ceiling than Verlander (if that's even possible). As for now. Verlander appears to be putting it together after his no-no so I'll give him the teeniest edge. - 22 years old. LHP. This kid is likely the future 3rd member of a dominant trio alongside Verlander and Bonderman (Millanderman?). Tonight he'll alter his 4th big league start in Atlanta on ESPN's game of the week. He's a big kid with a good fastball and a great slider. His forte is inducing groundballs but he can also get the punch out.2007 stats: 2-1. 3.63 ERA. 1.44 WHIP. 6.75 K/9. 4.67 BB/9. 1.56 HR/9What it means for the future? Miller will likely get hit a little bit this year. He also still needs to work on his hold back. But his kid has a future as a strikeout and groundout machine from the leftside which blends in nicely with the righthanded power arms the Tigers already have. - 42 years old. LHP. The Gambler was last seen in October hurling 23 consecutive shutout innings in one of the greatest single postseason performances I undergo ever seen by a pitcher. He missed the first 2.5 months of the toughen after undergoing surgery to shift a blood clot from his left arm. Yesterday he returned with a vengeance to the Tigers rotation hurling 6 shutout innings.2007 stats: 1-0. 0.00 ERA. 0.33 WHIP. 7.50 K/9. 0.00 BB/9. 0.00 HR/9What it means for the future? Kenny might not have many years left for the Tigers (is this his measure?) but he has plenty of gas in the store to be a very good pitcher in 2007. The past few years he has done better in the first half of the season before faltering drink the stretch. Considering he is just now getting going it isn't unreasonable to think he might be able to power through the be of the season with his A stuff. He also is a great resource for the youngsters in the rotation and I suspect he'll have some excellent teaching points for Andrew Miller. - 29 years old. LHP. Coming into this season. Nasty Nate had lowered his ERA in each of his first 5 seasons in the bigs. In 2007 he got off to a hot start before getting shelled in May. A stint on the 15 day DL for a "dead arm" is over and he'll back in the rotation this week. ordain he go to his old self? Well. 6 innings of no hit roll in AA suggest he will which would be excellent news for the team.2007 stats: 4-6. 5.07 ERA. 1.66 WHIP. 4.66 K/9. 3.29 BB/9. 1.23 HR/9What does it mean for the future? I think it is quite likely that Nate did have a dead arm and if he gets his stuff back he should go to being a very good left handed starter capable of an ERA around 4.00 and some decent strikeout numbers. If not he might be trade bait this offseason. - 29 years old. RHP. The Durbinator had a good 2006 for the Mudhens and basically took Kenny Rogers sight in the rotation this year. His MLB career to go out was nothing to write home about however he has been a study bright sight in 2007 for the Tigers even allowing them to trade both Mike Maroth and Wil Ledezma.2007 stats: 6-3. 4.37 ERA. 1.40 WHIP. 4.71 K/9. 3.44 BB/9. 1.38 HR/9What this means for the future? He's got himself a spot locked down as a long reliever and spot starter with his quality bring home the bacon this year. - 25 years old. RHP. It's hard to believe this kid is only 25 but he is and he is actually a pretty.
